I'm remodeling my bathroom and I need to remove my sink/sink cabinet. I was able to detach the sink from the wall, however I'm having trouble disconnecting the hot and cold water pipes. There were nuts that looked like they were connecting them to the respective valves, however when I loosened them, it appears that they only covered where the pipes were soldered together (I'm assuming their soldered because I tried to move the sink and it was pulling on the pipes). I tried to the remove the connections where the connect to the faucet, however the area is too small to get a wrench in there and I cannot get the bolts to move. Anyone have any suggestions short of cutting the pipes and having a plumber come in to fix? Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Did you use a basin wrench, see the image below?

Hi lost...

If you loosened the nuts and raised them up only to find that the pipes didn't come loose that is because the compression ferrules have seized in place and are giving you a little trouble.

Here, hold the shutofff in your hand and then take a pair of pliers and wiggle the tubing with the ferrule back and forth until you see the ferrules loosen. The you can lift the sink up and out.

You may even decide to cut the tubing... not the shutoffs, the tubing going into the shutoffs... and then you can deal with this once the sink is all removed.

Anyway, if there is a nut that was removed then there is a ferrule under there and this will come out pretty easily once you get them started.
