I have a slab leak under my bathtub. I do not know what is really going on. I called my home warranty and they sent out a plumber. The plumber told me that it is coming from my bathtub and that I will need to take out the tub, then they will be able to fix the slab leak for over 800 dollars. I would like to know how to fix this slab leak myself. Please help.:(

Before you can even began to repair the leak you must first locate it and ascertain whether this is a pressure leak or a drainage leak. If you will look behind the tub drain you will see a cut out in the cement. This is called a "tub dap out" and the drain connections are where the can be worked on without removing the tub. Did the plumber tell you what type of leak it was?
If it was a drainage leak I can walk you through the repair. Tell me what type of leak you have and we'll start to repair it. PS. Unless you have a pressure leak under the tub it won't have to come up. Let me know. Tom

The plumber said that it is a slab leak under the concrete of my bathtub. My carpets in the rooms and living room feels wet and if you set something heavy(for example, my bed flat on the floor for a day, only that area gets wet) so does that mean that I have multiple leaks under my house? The plumber said that when he diagnosed it, he thinks it is coming from the bathtub. I can always hear water running in my bathroom even when all water ways are shut off. Is this something that will be easy for me to fix by myself?

Unless you have plumbing skills and tools you're out of gas. The slab has to come up and the leak bared. This might involve pulling the tub. Then leak ,or leaks, must be located and the system drained down. The bad piece of pipe must be replaced and everything put back together. A pressure slab leak is not a week end project for the average home owner. It's going to take a professional. Good luck, Tom

I say spend the 800 bucks it will be worth it because you might mess things up and the repair will cost more. Trust me.
