    Council tax
    Hi I got billed for a council tax billfor £8531 when I query this they said they had me down as deceased but as I have phone up and very much alive I now have to pay this amount which is not my error they have taken me to court whilst I'm dead might added and now I have an attachemnt of earnings on my pay... where do I stand as this is not my fault

    Did they explain exactly HOW they managed to get to that figure, as it's clearly multiple years added together ?

    You mention the fact they have already taken you to court, did you defend, or just let them rubber stamp it through?

    It had been dated back since 2002 but I called up as I wasn't getting a bill and I was getting debt help and they wanted to know what my out goings were,when I phoned the council tax office they said I'm on the system as dead but they had taken me to court which I knew nothing about... but I feel someone has made an error their end and I'm being made to pay for their mistake if I didn't call up in the first place they wouldn't be getting a penny still
