I am trying to send a photo through email. When I add the attachment and try to send I get a error message that the file is to large. Is there and other way to send this photo?

Upload the file onto an internet storage site, for example:
DropSend

Or use a 3rd party service to mail the file, for example:
MailBigFile

Will they get it as a jpeg that they can then upload?

They will get what you send them.

Upload it to flickr.com or photobucket.com, you will get a web address with the photo.

I use YouSendIt to send large files.
