Usually Most min pins you have to watch there weight because they tend to gorge of food, garbage etc. try feeding it free choice food all the time, buying a dog food with a higher fat an protein %. Talk to your vet there may be a food to help gain weight, also consider spaying or nutering

What does your vet say about his weight? Some dogs are just naturally lean. Is he on a regular worm and flea treatment?

When introducing a higher calorie and protein to a dogs diet, you must introduce it slowly to avoid pancreaitis. Maddy makes a good point, if they are un altered then they tend to stay on the leaner side as well. If you are feeding a good quality dog chow, then he will be getting all the nutrients he is needing in his daily diet.

You can try a higher fat treat such as an organ mean like liver. I like to BBQ the liver and cut it in small chunks, I also freeze it and it doubles as brushing their teeth.

Make sure to speak with your vet about your dogs health. Here are some rercipies that I have always liked for weight gain. Again remember to introduce slowly.

lb (.45kg) hamburger mince (high fat content)
1 package cream cheese
1 jar all natural peanut butter
1 dozen egg yolks
1 cup rolled oats soaked in milk
1 jar wheat germ

Mix thoroughly (with hands is best).
Freeze into meal sized bags and thaw as needed.

2 cups Dry Dog food
2 packs cream cheese
1½ cups Peanut Butter
½ cup Corn Oil
1 cup Cottage Cheese
1 pound Browned Hamburger (save some of the grease)

Blend dog food (crushed fine) and add remaining ingredients.
Mix till you have a doughy mixture add more dog meal as needed if consistency is too thin.
On wax paper spread some meal and roll out mixture into log shape.
Refrigerate until firm and slice as needed.
Feed them a slice or two several times during the day. Very high calorie... will put weight on fairly quick.

How old is he? What does your vet say about his weight? How are you judging how 'skinny' he is?

Puppies often go through a 'skinny' phase when their bone structure is developing faster than the rest of them. If this is the case, be careful that the pup doesn't put on too much weight too fast causing stress on his developing joints.

How is his disposition? If he is nervous or apprehensive about everything around him, then there is another reason he might not be keeping weight on.

Keep in mind that certain breeds naturally look 'skinny' because of their body type. My Doberman looks skinny next to a Rottweiler.
