Give an example of a fractional rate and explain how to convert the fraction to both
When calculating interest rates, the rate may be given as a fractional value instead of percentage. Give an example of a fractional rate and explain how to convert the fraction to both the percentage and decimal equivalent

    Example: 8 3/4%

Multiply the whole number by the denominator of the fraction. For example, if you were converting 8 3/4 percent to a decimal, you would multiply 8, the whole number by 4, the denominator, to get 32.

Add the result from step 1 to the numerator. In this example, you would add 32 to 3, the numerator in the fraction, to get 35.

Divide the numerator by the denominator to calculate the interest rate percentage. In this example, you would divide 35 by 4 to get 8.75 percent.

Divide the percentage by 100 to convert from a percentage to a decimal. Finishing this example, you would divide 8.75 by 100 to get 0.0875, which is the interest rate fraction expressed as a decimal.
