    TV no sound
    Hi,

I have an old JVC TV with a rabbit ear style aerial plugged into the back. I can tune in perfect picture but no sound. There is even no hissing sound even when a channel is untuned (snow). There is also no sound when I try the head phone jack.

When I plug in the DVD player there is perfect sound and picture so why no sound when I watch TV via an aerial?

The volume is up high and the TV is not muted

    Thanks in advance

    Luke

Do you have the new digital converter hooked up between your rabbit ears? I don't believe they are using sound as part of the carrier anymore.

    Thanks for your reply,

What do you mean by "digital converter"? I have a UHF/VHF "rabbit ear" antenna sitting on top my TV. This is connected to the TV via a coaxial cable. Still no sound though?

Since all the TV channels started broadcasting in HD you need to add a converter to see the normal channels you used to see with just rabbit ears.

    Thanks again for your help,

Sorry but still a bit unsure if I have a "converter". I have a Mercury VHF/UHF antenna (see picture) on my TV via one coaxial cable. Again, I am receiving perfect picture but NO sound. The sound does however work when I use TV with DVD player via a scart connection.

Hard to tell just from the picture. Do you have a model number? Most of the converters Ive seen are almost like a cable box in size.

That is NOT a dtv converter. If you are in the U.S. your going to need a separate box to go with the antenna.
