    Hi Japbike600...

Is this for a water heater?

If so, take the lever on the top and lift it up... then quickly, SNAP it back down into place.

If that fails to stop the flow of water then you will need to replace the temperature and pressure relief valve. You'll need some pipe dope or teflon tape for the threads.

Here, you would shut off the cold water feed into the water heater and shut off the electricity or turn the gas valve to pilot and then open a couple hot water faucets (hot only) and then drain the water off to below the T&P relief valve (open to check that water is below) using the drain at the bottom of the water heater. Remove the tubing coming out of the T&P valve and then unscrew the old T&P valve and then tape or pipe dope the new T&P valve and install until pretty tight. Install the tubing back into the T&P valve, shut the hot water valves and turn on the water to the heater. Run water out the faucets in the house to purge the unit of air and then turn the electricity or the gas valve back on.

If you replace the valve and the T&P relief valve starts to weep again then you may have other, what could be dangerous, issues. Please pop back here if this occurs so we can discuss safety issues.

If this is not for a water heater please tell us what appliance it is leaking from.

Any questions just let us know...
