Do you turn off the pilot light on the gas fireplace in the summer
Personally, I do. But you don't have to. It will save you a couple of buck in gas if you do. Also will prolong the life of the thermocouple or power pile if you shut it off during summer.
I don`t, but that's just me,we pay a min. gas bill through the summer wheather you use the gas or not.
Plus if the little spider varmits get in there and nest stopping up the pilot gas tube I know how to take care of it without having to call out the guys that make the big bucks, Don`t know how they find such a small hard spot to build their nests, but maybe it's a WV thing
wmproop makes an excellent point. If you get charged a minimum gas bill no matter how small amount of gas you use during the summer, it actually is a good idea to keep the pilot lit. As the pilot orifice can become clogged during non use. And it can be a headache to dissasemble and clean them suckers sometimes.
