I had better get off here for the day because I read this as 'principle of INSULTING a ceiling fan'.

Hi hartson, we do have a sense of humour here and I am sorry I couldn't answer your question.

Principles of installing a ceiling fan?

The best method is to bring the power to the ceiling outlet and then run a switch loop for the control of the light. Also, connect the fan a constant hot at the same time.

Depends on the situation. Can you give us some more detail about what it is you are doing and want to know?

For a brand new installation I differ from Don as I think bringing the feed to the switch box is better and run a 3-wire to the fan for separate control from the wall.
