My fabrics are pulling threads and damaging them. I think something sharp has got under the agitator.

Fairly easy, but you will need to purchase a spanner wrench. If you pull the cap on the agitator, there is a nut. Unscrew the nut and remove the agitaor auger (do not remove the agitator cam inside.) This is where you will need the spanner wrench and a hammer. Yes a hammer. The spanner nut is REVERSE thread, use the hammer to break the nut free. Do not dent the drum while doing so.remove nut and pull the agitator, it will NOT pull easy so do not be shy.
