    Furnace questions
I have just purchased a Lennox SLP98UHV furnace and XC14 Air Conditioner. Where the furnace is married to the evaporator coils unit there is a massive air leak. Should there have been a gasket or caulk put between these two units? The technician told me that these is normal for the SLP98UHV. I find that hard to believe. Please give me any information about this unit and what to do.

    Thank you,

Im not exactly familiar with that exact unit, but leakage between furnace and plemum, or furnace and boxed a-coil is common. We usually use a sheet metal tape to seal the areas of air loss. Or you could use duct seal, but its pretty ugly. I would really press the installer to come back and seal the leakage with whatever methods they use. If you are unhappy with the finished install, they should be more than happy to come back and take care of it (yea right, in a perfect world). They might not be happy about it, but it is their job to come back and take care of it. You paid good money ( and if I know lennox, really really good money) to have the job done right, and to your satisfaction. Keep calling them until they do at least something about it to try an make you happy. Good luck and please let us know how things go.

The installer came back today. He told me the same thing as you . He put a bead of caulk over the leaking areas and all seems well. Thanks Mygirlsdad77 for your time and advice.
