    Adopting Thai wife's son
I am an American. I have lived in Thailand for 10 years. I have been with wife for 9 years, and legally married for 7 years. I have raised her son for 9 years (he is now 12); educate him at an English/Thai school (he speaks perfect English and Thai); have life and health insurance on both son and wife; have home in Surin and lease home in Pattaya (10 years); educated wife's family (University); we have had no contact with Thai father and don't know where he is; they were not legally married; son always has wanted me to adopt him; I have never been married before; I am a healthy 72; Income of 120,000 baht per month; I am University educated; former Navy Officer; pilot; author of three books; DO NOT even plan on moving from Thailand; been quoted 200,000 by lawyer to adopt, which is insane! Any help from anyone would be appreciated.

That price does seem excessive. Did the lawyer give you a breakdown of the expenses?
