Hair Loss at the base of the tail
My 10 year old Cat has lost some hair at the very base of his tail. The first thing I noticed was that his skin in that area was hard and when I tugged on the hair there it came off with the hard substance attached. The cat did not react at all this procedure. He is normally quite skiddish but he let me examine the spot. There was a red spot that faded within a day. I have been watching him and he does not bite that area nor scratch at it. He seems totally fine with it. The hair has started to grow back but then I noticed another spot higher on his tail with the same symptoms. I plan on taking him in right after Christmas but would be interested in opinions.

He is a strictly indoor cat, one of two and the other is showing no signs of this problem. I always treat them with the good flea medicine in the spring/summer/fall but not in the winter.

May have ringworm, causes hair to fall out and can spread from cat to cat.
