I wired a fan light combo with a nightlight.the lights both work fineand the fan trips the breaker as soon as switched. The wiring is correct according to the fan wiring diagram and the switch diagram. If the problem is in the fan wiring how would I diagnose or fix it?

Try undioing the light and just wire the black and white from the box to the black and white of the fan. Let us know if it trips

So I hooked the white to the white of the incoming power to the box and the black to the black and bypassed the switch and it was not good.the breaker tripped immediately

I figured out after a process of elimination that the wire I ran for the fan, from the switch to the unit is bad for some reason.I will run new wire and everything will work properly.thank you for your reply is started a process of elimination.

    Probably more than bad, shorted.
