    Labour!
Hi, I'm 33 weeks and am wondering should I start using an enema just to clean myself out or should I wait for the last minute. If so when should I use it, early labour or when and how many times a day, and what should I put in the water soap or just plain water. Thank you.

An enema really isn't necessary and no longer standard routine as it was years ago.

Nature often takes care of that for you. Many women will experience some loose bowel movements soon before labour starts or in very early labour.

If you still feel you would be more comfortable using one, ask your doctor or midwife as they may prefer one sort over another.

I would advise against using an enema. IF this is going to be done, it should be done by your midwife, doctor or nurse when you are in the hospital.
