During the apartheid period my mum who is African (still living in Africa), got pregnant by my dad who is Portuguese. Unfortunately, they were not married because the laws prohibited marriage between persons of different races. I was born before the aparthied period was over.

My dad got deported before my mum registered my birth. However, when my mum got a birth certificate for me she gave me his surname, but the details of the father on my birth certificate are blank.

I grew up in a children's home and I have official government documentation from over 32 years ago stating his was deported.

Unfortunately, I have never had contact with my dad.

I am now 34 years old and would like to know if I am eligible to claim for a Portuguese passport.
