We put a new electrical plug in a wall that was bad now for some reason the brand new ceiling light won't work but yesterday the ceiling fan and light worked fine.The fan control works but the light kit doesn't WHEN controlled by the walll switch it works fine to pull the chain off/on

You forgot to break the tab between the brass screws. Look at old outlet.
