State tax filing for two states
I have worked in two states. There is state tax in CA but not in TN. How the State tax will be calculated, only the income in that state or total income of whole year?
Suppose I earned 50k in California and 50k in TN then State tax will be calculated on 50k or 100k?
    Thanks

The answer will depend upon if you are considered full year resident of CA or not.
If you live in CA, moved to work in TN, and returned back to CA, the entire income is taxable in CA.
If you are resident of TN and were temporarily in CA, the income earned while present in CA is taxable in CA. http://taxipay.blogspot.com/2008/06/...re-states.html

Thanks Mukata. I am part year resident of TN and part year resident of CA.

As a part year resident of CA, income earned during the period you were in CA is taxable in CA.

MukatA has it correct; the form you would submit is 504NR.
