Our child was held back in 1st grade due to an October birth date.
Now he is 12 and an A-B+ student going to 6th grade Aug-24 2010.
He is very large compared to his classmates and wants to get involved in sports.
It seems that he is in between being too old for most leagues or not in the correct class/grade to play at school. Can he be tested to skip 6th grade?

First you will have to talk with the Sperintendant of Schools in your district. The HR office will have to test him and even if they do they have an option of saying no.

Your best bet is to take him to the school Psycologist and let her spend some time with him.

If she or HR director feels he is ready to skip a grade then the School Board will have to approve it.
