    Wye direction wrong?
Is it a huge mistake to have installed a 2" wye pointing the "wrong way" on a drain line?? The wye ties a shower drain into a bathroom sink drain line. Please see attached.

    smoothy

That's a clogged drain just waiting to happen.

    I agree with smoothy...

The way I see it the wye is pitched upward and turned against the flow causing issues for the shower drain, but it also focuses the waste water from the sink to follow into the shower drain. Combined, this will probably be an issue down the road.

If it's PVC it shouldn't take long to swap out.

Finally, if you plan on selling the home in the future I guarantee that the home inspector won't miss this if it is exposed... may raise a red flag about the permitting on the entire bathroom as well... ;)

    Good luck!

Could also cause problems I you ever have to snake the line.

Good point, Harold... even funnier would be if someone else had to clean the drain... quite a surprise when the snake ended up in the sink in the other room... :)

I agree with the other experts. By installing the wye against the flow you have directed the drainage from the lavatory directly into your shower. Remove the wye and install it correctly. Good luck, Tom
