Shower insert leak at metal handle
Request any advice on how to seal a metal handle that is an integral part of a shower insert.

I've had a plumber look at the situation. His comment was that shower inserts with metal handles were no longer sold because they developed leaks at the juncture of the metal handle and the holes on each end of the handle in the shower insert.

Based on the plumbers advice I've sealed the ends of the metal handle with grout. However, this does not look good and requires frequent regrouting.

Any ideas on how to permanently/semi-permanently seal the ends of the metal handle and the shower insert?

    Thank you,

    Mike

    Tom,

The leak is coming from where a metal hand hold is inserted into the shower insert. The leak is not at the faucet.

    Many thanks and happy holiday!

    Hi Mike,

Are we talking about a hand held spray that's connected to the chrome shower arm? If so, where exactly is it leaking from? The shower arm? The hose connection at the spray handle? Back to you and Merry Xmas. Tom

    Tom,

The handle is not a part of the shower head. It is a safety hand-hold mounted horizontal to the floor. It has two hard plastic gaskjets at each end where it joins the shower insert. These gaskets have loosened and cracked.

    Many thanks.

Can you take a picture and send it to us? Can you replace the gaskets with neoprene ones? Regards, Tom
