I bougth an ecu to the same dealer of my toyota rav manual trans 2005 because of the flood that affects are country last year. Now after replacing all junction box the white one under the dashboard as per advice by their technician still my car doesn't work it just crank and start and few seconds the engine stops. Again the technician said that the ecu is broken again.but after I complained it to the parts manager it has to replaced according to them the remote of my key is that sir the so called immobilizer? Right now because of the lack of technical knowledge about the damaged done by the flood to my car I felt it's just a trial and error has been done to my car. Would you mind to explain to me if there is a possibility that all the junction box as I called it( the white one with the fuses and harness attach to it? Can be damaged or short circuited after the flood? They have been pointing so much to be replaced to my car but until now it doesn't work the way used to be. As I visit your page I ve learned that it has to reproggramed the new ecu and this immoblizer? Hope you can give me advice regarding my unforgettable experience to my car thanking you

. Ensure the battery is fully charged. Clean battery terminals and cable connections.

Consider replacing the Crankshaft Position Sensor, since they are notorious for causing engines not to start in flooding situations. Remove and test the alternator.


Floods typically damage the ECU, alternator, and various sensors. In the process, fuses blow. It's imperative that you ensure every fuse is good--visual inspection is not good enough. Take your time, since it will save a lot of time and money. Also, be sure to clean the main ECU ground (and all grounds for that matter).

If the engine has started and run for several seconds, I'm not sure you have an immobilizer problem. Obviously, you should have removed all of the old spark plugs, removed water from cylinders, installed new NGK spark plugs, and changed the oil and filter. Ultimately, you want to change all of the fluids--power steering, brake, and transmission. Wheel bearings should also be replaced, in all likelihood. These are nasty situations.

The junction block is also the Body ECU. If that got wet, then all kinds of things can go wrong.
Flood cars should be a total loss in my opinion. There's so much electronics to go wrong they can haunt you to death.
