I just wanted to know how common it is to have a vaginal tear during consensual sex with my boyfriend. During sex, I was on top of my boyfriend and I zigged and he zagged and all of a sudden I was bleeding right on top of him. My boyfriend is not small but he is not big either, just average size. We went to the hospital and I was given a couple of stitches. The tears were deep inside as the doctor had to use the spectulum to open me up to put in the stitches. My boyfriend and I were quite embarrassed about the whole situation. I'm just wondering if I should worry about this happening again? More importantly, I'm wondering if this is common for some women as if it is common, I will worry less and be able to relax.

Vaginal tearing can happen if you are not lubricated enough, not properly ready for sexual intercourse. I would suggest you use a proper lubricant like ky jelly or astroglide just to be on the safe side.

I think there are many different types of vaginal tearing. Which one are you describing, Tickle?

The one Colleen describes- I have the same one, but I never went to get stitches, now that bit sort of hangs... Should I still try to get stitches now? Or just leave it until I have kids?

Interesting question. Not many types of internal vAginal tearing unless rough sex, as I said, without proper lubrication, Tinker. Unless the OP had. Recent epesiotomy and she is confused about where the tear is.

How long has that bit hang? If way too long then you should see your obygyn
