    Federal check recovery
I had a payday loan in 2007 for 300 dollars last year 2009 I got a call from some indian man harassing me daily at home stating he was going to file papers on me and the person I had listed at my reference before talking to a lawyer I paid the money totaling $512 dollars I am now getting calls for federal check recovery looking for money from me. I was scammed once I will not be scammed again is this legal and what can I do.I understand from my attorney that it is a civil matter and that they can't have me arrested or have papers served on me

    Hello p:

They CAN serve civil papers on you and take you to court. But, when you get there, just show them the receipt for the $512 you paid.

No they cannot serve you civil papers. On several debts you can be sued for the amount due, but not with payday loans. These loans take advantage of consumers and this collection agency is the ultimate scammer! They will harass you to no end and when you ask them for proof of the debt they refuse to provide it!
