    Reconfigure bathroom plumbing
I am doing a bath remodel and have only a minor move to make. My bathtub is going back into the same location, however, it is 4 inches wider than the old one. I need to move the drain and supply lines over 2 inches to keep it on center and to line up the drain holes. The supply lines can be easily moved, I am just not sure how to go about the drain as it is fairly rigid - plastic. This is a second story bath.

    Hi Scott...

You should be able to cut the pipe and cut 2 inches off the pipe and then simply use a PVC (white plastic) or ABS (black plastic) COUPLING to join all back together...

Otherwise, if the existing trap won't line up cut the pipe back a ways and install a new coupling, a PTRAP, and a new trap adapter and connect onto the new tub waste assembly. You will also need some PVC (or ABS) primer and cement. These are available at home supply stores.

    Any questions...

Why fight the drain line when they make a off set tub waste and overflow? (see image). If you can't locate one at a plumbing supply house click on back and I'll help. Good luck, Tom
