I may purchase a 15 SEER 2 ton heat pump system because it has a tax credit that I can get if I that is my principle residence. It is not but I saw somewhere that a heat pump systme does qualify if you are either principle resident or not as long as you own the home. Are you aware of this?

My understanding is it has to be your principle residence. I would contact your tax lawyer OR the IRS for a written explanation.
