How much taxes I need to paid for an internship at WA
    Hi,
Recently I got a job offer for an engineering internship at WA for 6 months. I am not a US resident and this will be the first time I am going to be at US. I am from Mexico.
This is an internship with no medical, nor dental or any other kind of benefits. Only the paid.
I only know that I have to paid taxes but I do not how much.

The salary is 41600 annual. I am single.

If you can give an idea or the exact amount of the taxes I am going to pay/deduced I will be grateful

    Regards,
    Daniel

I think that would place you in a 25% bracket but www.irs.gov has the exact tables. Remember as well you will need to pay state taxes.

"---I guess you are a J-1 intern visa holder and are not subject to US FICA Taxes (In general, everyone on J1 visa is exempt from residency for 2 years. This means that they are not subject to FICA Taxes for at least two yeras). You will receive your W-2 , and your employer withholds your Fed. Tax from your salary on a quarterly basis. The amount of your Fed. Tax liaiblity will be calculated by your employer.( I do not know which table( method) your employer uses). You can contact your employer to confirm your Fed. Tax lability WITHHELD by your employer.
Anyway, due to lack of sufficient your personal info, I CAN'T accurately calculate your Fed. Tax liability, BUT roughly your federal tax liaiblity, using the IRS tax table( for 2009), is approximately $5,681; $41,600-$3,650( your personal exemption)=$37,950( assuming you DO NOT claim your itemized ded.), your TI. And $5,681 is, your tax liability.
As you can see, you are ot subject to State income tax. Washington state is one of the only seven states that does not tax individual wage income.
