I have currently been unemployed for a month. I was fired from my previous job. However, the job before that I quit, I put in my two weeks and that was that. It was a little over a year ago. And someone told me that I might be able to claim unemployment benefits based on that job, is this true? If it helps I live in Washington state.

Your unemployment is based on any and all jobs you had doing the qualifing period.

The unemployment office goes back to all of your prior work to qualify and determine amount of payment.

You do not file for various places, just file and it goes back to all your work

I've never known anyone to be able to collect from a job they quit.

No you are thinking of it wrong, if you quit three jobs, and the last job you are fired, or quit for cause, you collect back on all of the past jobs ( even ones you quit) for the number of working quarters.

You don't apply for anything but your current firing or layoff, they will qualify you and determine how much you get depending on how much was paid in during the period.

It looks back to the four quarters you worked prior to the quarter that you are filing in.
