I have read questions that others have had about their goodman furnaces.Well mine does the same thing... cycles several times but does not fire. If left on for about an hour or so, it might eventually work. One answer was that the heat sensor was dirty, full of soot or something. I had a contractor come out and he swapped out the circuit board but I still have the same problem and he says that he is baffled. So my question is: where the heck is this heat sensor? Where is it physically in the furnace? Is it on the gas jet side or the circuit board side? I would like to try cleaning it up to see if this is the problem. Thanks!

There are 2 different gismos. If the gas comes on and goes off in a few seconds, it is the flame detector. Different styles, but right at the gas jet. Somebody posted a picture of one style a day or 2 ago.

Then there is a heat sensor. It is supposed to shut the gas off if the blower doesn't come on after a few minutes. It will be in the same area, but not right at the flame.

Get a new Heating and reparir company out to take out the Goodman, which is a POS. I had Park and Sons or Emergency Heating and Repair in Omaha put mine in and three months later it was breaking down. He wouldn't respond, which is probably the case with most Goodman guys. Goodman is one company that won't register with dealers, they sell to anyone, that's why they are cheap. The other reason they are cheap is because they suck. Trust me, get the Goodman out and get a Trane or Rheem or whatever. Get a spaceheater even
