Tylenol 3 contains codeine, an opiate. Opiate screens are present in all drug tests and identify heroin, morphine, opium, and codeine.
Hydrocodone is a semi-synthetic opioid. Basically that means it acts like an opiate. It does contain a small amount of opiate alkaloid (thebaine or codeine) but the amount is so low that it will never be detected in a standard 5-panel opiate screen (cutoff of 2000 ng.)
There are expanded tests specifically designed for detecting the synthetics and semi-synthetics. They usually have a cutoff of 100 ng.
So generally, Tylenol 3 would ring the bell on any opiate screen while hydrocodone would require a lower threshold test.
