Probation ordered drug counseling but my insurance won't cover it.
I live in New Jersey and have been on probation for the last 2 years. I'm not on probation for a drug offense but recently failed one drug test and was ordered to get a substance abuse evaluation. Anyway, I went and got the evaluation and the counselor at this place recommended to my probation officer that I go into an intensive outpatient program for drug abuse. Now I have no problem doing this except for the fact that my insurance will not cover it and I would have to pay at least $250 out of my pocket a week to comply with my probation. I am currently unemployed and there is no way I could afford this. So I am just asking what someone in my position would do in this situation, because I'm sure there are a lot of other people on probation who don't have thousands of dollars just lying around to pay for drug counseling.

    Hello c:

You say recommend. That's different that ordered. I can't believe that there isn't a free program that you can take. I also can't believe they'll violate you for being broke. Ask about other programs. If there's NONE, and they're going to violate you, let me know.
