I am hoping someone may be able to pint me in the right direction ;)

I am looking to propose to my US GF in the coming months.
If all goes "as hoped" , down the track we will get married in my country as she has "hinted" at that option.
After that happens she will return to the USA & I will stay in Australia until such time as I have enough funds to "make the move" to her.

What I want to know is if I WE apply for a K3 visa , am I able to stay in my country & continue working & saving money , then move over once all has been approved?
I want to avoid going there & not being able to work until a permit has been issued.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

If you enter US a K-3, you will need to file adjustment of status, and then obtain ss#, driver's license, then you will be able to be legally employed. It takes about 6 months.

If you girlfriend has worked in Australia more than a year, then apply for CR-1 visa, you don't need to file adjustment in US. You will get green card and ss# in a month after arrival.
