I am being benzo screened by a urine test tomorrow, will they check for alcohol?
I have a safeguarding with intensive family treatment worker, who detected benzo's on a mouth swab last week. I have been breathalised for alcohol and results have been fine. She said last week she'll do a urine test tomorrow for benzo's, will I automatically be tested for alcohol as well, as I'm not supposed to be drinking alcohol. Help!

Drugs tests are specific. Drug panels do not pick up alcohol. It is easy enough to include a specific test for alcohol and it's metabolites, however. You should be fully informed by the testing agent(cy), no later than the point of sample collection, as to what they are looking/testing for. Check the (chain of custody) form that you are provided, and the type of test(s) should be noted. Don't sign with blank spaces. (for example where they could check a box after you signed) I am reciting procedure as it should be. In fact much of the drug testing field is very unprofessional and do not follow procedural guidelines and/or recommendations and too often skirt even basic requirements. You must be provided a copy of the documents you sign. On that will be the name of the testing laboratory and their CLIA #. (That's true even if the test is on-site at point of collection.) Keep that document as CLIA provides administrative methods for challenging test results. Good luck.

Thank you very much 4 your time, your answer was extremely helpful. After all my anxiety, I only had to do a mouth swab 4 drug's, which is not a problem as I've only used prescribed drugs. And I wasn't even breathalised, which would also have been negative. I was concernered about the etc/ or whatever it's called . Which can show up any alcohol consumed within 80-ish hours. Thank you ever so much 4 your time in answering my question. I appreciate your knowledge and time for me. Kind regards, Alski
