I recently bought a used Ellington titan tit52sch5lkrc fan from the "brother of the owner" (should have known better) for a steal.

Unfortunately the fan remote control does not work for lighting or fan control and it doesn't have the pull switch option. When plugged in the fan operates at what I would assume to be either medium or low with the light off.

There are third party options available on eBay and Amazon for a conversion kit which looks like it would work but I'd like some insight before I make the investment into this.

The dimensions and setup look very similar to the ellingtons replacement receiver I can buy here:

I only paid $10 for the fan and it's a beauty, I just want to get it working. Thanks for any advice!

P.S. I did call Ellington, I'm waiting for a callback from them. The fan has a limited lifetime warranty but I don't expect to get too far with it being secondhand..

On a quick note; the fan did not come with the manual but had all hardware needed for installation. If anybody has / knows where I can find a manual for this could you investigate for me if there's any tricks to getting the remote to sync?

Make sure the battery is good. Also, some remotes are very distance sensitive, move the transmitter close to the fan and see if that works. You may have to extend the antenna outside the fan housing. Many HD's and Lowe's carry conversion remote kits. Some from other manufacturers will also work as long as the DIP switches are sync'd. Take the receiver and see if the wiring is the same. Most are fairly easy to adapt.

Check the dip switches first. If they match, you may need a new receiver. Order the correct one from Litex, the makers of Ellington Fans.
