Ellington titan tit52sch5lkrc; remote control will not work
I recently bought a used Ellington titan tit52sch5lkrc fan from the "brother of the owner" (should have known better) for a steal.
Unfortunately the fan remote control does not work for lighting or fan control and it doesn't have the pull switch option. When plugged in the fan operates at what I would assume to be either medium or low with the light off.
There are third party options available on eBay and Amazon for a conversion kit which looks like it would work but I'd like some insight before I make the investment into this.
Link to the eBay kit is here:
Universal Ceiling Fan and Light Remote Control Kit - eBay (item 140435054599 end time Aug-11-10 13:55:20 PDT)
The dimensions and setup look very similar to the ellingtons replacement receiver I can buy here:
Amazon.com: Ellington Fans WC-100 3-Speed and Light Dimming Wall Control (Receiver Included): Home Improvement
I only paid $10 for the fan and it's a beauty, I just want to get it working. Thanks for any advice!
P.S. I did call Ellington, I'm waiting for a callback from them. The fan has a limited lifetime warranty but I don't expect to get too far with it being secondhand..
