Had to buy a new netgear, don't know how to connect my 2 comps together. Modem to Netg
My netgear quit working, so I bought another one. After I unplugged all the plugs to re-plug into the new one, my computers won't connect and one just won't sign on at all, not to AOL or E. I use AOL though. 2 lights on my modem are steady and one is flashing, the ethernet light. How can I connect these two together w/out calling a 150.00/hour comp guy to just hook up a couple of wires??

    Your Netgear what?
    Cable modem? Switch? DSL Modem?
    What are the lights doing?

Ok, first I am a female and have no clue to tech words, lol. I have a new Netgear because my other one just died. I have a black box that is my modem. My 2 computers were connected until my netgear died. I tried reatatch the cords I must have screwed up somewhere. This one still signs on to the net where as my other one does not and it also says I have no internet connection, it just says local.

OK, lets assume it's a swih you bought and you have one computer that works and the other doesn't.

If you look near the Ethernet jacks on the computer, there should be a light that turns on/off when you remove the cable. There should also be a corresponding light on the switch.

Compare the lights with the working and non-working systems.
There should be at least one of them on at each end.
