    What's wrong with my baby?
My son will be a year on Wednesday and I just put him on milk about a week ago. Ever since then he has been very fussy and has a lot of gas... plus his diapers are very runny and to say the least just horrible. Could he be lactose intolerant? If not what's wrong with him?

    What has the pediatrician said?

He could be lactose intolerant, but it could be a number of other problems.

You really need to bring this up to the doctor ASAP.

Good to have his doctor check him out.
Could be he isn't ready for cow's milk just yet... or needs to have a more gradual transition to it. Some babies do better if they stay on formula or breastmilk awhile longer. How is his diet otherwise? Does he eat a wide variety of foods?

Well I took him to the dr and we are trying him on Silk soy milk he is still having the runny diapers but the gas is gone and so is the fussiness. He is a very healthy baby otherwise. He does have asthma but we have that in control. He weighs 24lbs and is 31.5 in long... today was his 1yr check up. He is in the 75 percentile for his weight and 90th for his height. Dr says he looks fine. Im wondering if the shots could play into the runny diapers today because he isn't fussy and the gas is gone, he seems so much happier now. Could it be a symptom of his 1 yr shots?

It might be, if it is from the injections it should not last long. Might also be from adjusting to the switch to the soy milk. Dairy stays in your system for awhile, so it could still be from the cow's milk too.
Remember to offer a varied diet now that he is on the milk.
Glad to hear he is feeling better!

May I ask what else you are feeding him? Fruits can cause this reaction as well.

He pretty much has eaten the same meal plan since he started solids. He eats oatmeal with fruit in the morning then he eats rice and veggis for lunch then for dinner its meat with veggis. And he normally gets a snack and that's normally a fruit. But it never hurt him before. His diapers are a lot better now. No more runny diapers thank goodness. I do think that the cows milk just had to get out of his system. Thank you all for your advice
