Hello everyone.. I'm not sure if this is the proper forum to put this thread, so if it needs to be moved, fine by me!
I'm being scammed! And I don't know what to do. I got an extended warranty on my car in March.. My trannie went out about two years ago and cost me $1800. I saw the commercial.. called up and everything seemed legit.. My Policy was suppose to cover engine, trannie, A/C, axels and some other stuff.. In the first part of July, I take my car in to have the A/C fixed since its covered, right? WRONG! I was told by my mechanic when he called that my policy doesn't cover the A/C.. Which really sucks, because its going to cost $800 to fix it.
But, I call the company up.. I try and see if I can get it fixed anyway since I was sold the policy with my A/C covered. The rep told me that even if they pulled the tapes with the other guy selling me the coverage, that they can't do it anyway... I didn't get any type of compensation or insentive to stay. I requested to cancel my policy and literally got into a pissing contest with the rep. He continues to challenge me and argue. I'm not being nice.. I'm not being cooperative.. I continued to say I want to cancel the policy right now and he doesn't budge.
I work at a call center.. I know how this works.. I tried all my tactics but this dude stayed strong. I had to go to work, so I had to let him go... This was about 4 days ago.
This policy has roadside assistance with it.. So, today I got a flat tire.. I'm in the middle of no where and my entire family was with me.. so no one to call. I call up the warranty people because I'm PAYING for this policy still.. The SAME guy answers my call.. I tell him I need roadside assistance.. He asks me what's wrong.. I tell him I have a flat in the middle of no where and the lugnuts are stripped... He tells me that since the emergency has nothing to do with the policy that he can't help me. So another half hour long pissing contest. I continue to tell the guy I want to cancel. I asked for his manager.. I threantened the Lawyer and BBB.. It fell on deaf hears.. He kept dodging me for speaking with his Manager.. he tells me that if I want to cancel I need to write a letter.. I signed up for this policy over the phone, but now all of a sudden I cannot cancel over the phone. I'm not even requesting a refund for all the months I paid.. Or even demanding my AC to be fixed.. I just want to cancel.. This guy won't cancel me.. He continues to give me scenarios if my engine blows.. That he is concerned about my high milage.. That he is trying to save me the heartache of buying a new car and going into debt...
Looked up this company.. Stoprepairbills.com.. at BBB.. They are getting a score from them of a whopping F... which is why they are not concerned about BBB.. They also have lawyers after them.. So my limp attacks didn't phase this company one bit.
They won't let me cancel my policy. I've been reading online.. and many issues that are the same as mine are popping up everywhere! Dumb me didn't do my research before purchasing this policy.
I'm pulling all of my money out of my acct so the pmt will not go through.. It's a prepaid card, so no returned payment fees... I don't want this to go against me in anyway.I need this cancelled immediately..
My question.. What legal leverage do I have? If anything? Or even advise! Please help me!! :(
