I am updating my rough basement bathroom. I have two very young children, a boy and a girl and funds are very limited especially around this time of year. (My daughter is only nine-months and I am already thinking about the bathroom issues between her and my son). The shower has a painted concrete floor with a few cracks and is leaking. :mad:

What would be the best method to repair the cracks and prevent the floor from cracking in the future?:confused: I also noticed when washing the dog in the shower that water leaks through the concrete wall and into the finished garage. I applied a water proofing paint and cocked the base of the concrete block wall, but it did not seem to help.

I spoke with a sales rep at a large retail store and he advised me to purchase a premix concrete with a sand texture (to prevent slipping) and apply a heavy skim coat. He said that this should help with the leaking, repair the cracks and recommended that I use a binding agent to prevent it from pulling up. Since the floor is painted, what type of binding agent should be used? (I have reviewed a few other postings from others that had/have used an epoxy paint, but it peeled up after a short period of time)

Also, I noticed that there is a special type of concrete mix used for leaking walls. Should I use this around the base of the shower and then apply the topcoat of the other concrete mix?

Any help and suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Having to deal with similar issues myself in my mother's home, I suggest injecting the cracks with something like this product, ElastiPoxy.

For the floor, I suggest using something like this product called "CrackWeld". They worked well for us in similar situations.
