    Theft claim
I have been burgled but have no insurance. I live in rented accommodation and told the landlord that the french door would not lock. Only 3 days ago he hired a glazier to look at the door but the glazier said it needed to be replaced. The glazier fitted 2 catches to either side of the door but the burgler was able to bounce the catches off thus gaining entry. Am I able to claim for the stolen items from my landlord?

I see no negligence on your landlord's part UNLESS you advised him that the locks he installed were somehow defective. It appears you advised him that the door wouldn't lock and he thought it was fixed but a burglar gained entry.

No, I see no action against the landlord.

You don't have a case against the landlord. Renter's insurance is relatively inexpensive and easy to obtain. It's around $15 a month or less for $10K of insurance on your contents. How hard is that to spend $15 a month on?

Yes, I would ask why you did not have insurance and if you were not happy with the lock on the door why you did not add additional security
