We are getting a new shed -- 10'w x 20'L. We have a 14" difference when stringing out the area for a "level" spot - - - how do we do this without making it look stupid?? The high end will be facing out towards the alleyway - - the lowest level is at the back end.

Many sheds and garages in Pittsburgh were exactly like this.Making the entrance slightly above the street(for water purposes)and the rear the same height might require a small foundation to be installed.

What are the codes saying for this?Are you inner city or outside the main code enforcement areas?

Outside you could drive posts in and make a pier and cross-member support style(like a deck under the shed)to support any heavy machines.It would need to be quite beefy if you are going to drive an auto onto it though.

Old days,(and code enforced)it would be a footer below frost line,foundation built up to level and concrete poured at a slope towards the alleyway.
