Every once in a while I have a thick discharge and it starts to itch it only lasts maybe a week or so. What is it?

If the discharge has a fishy odor to it, then it is bacterial vaginosis,( a relatively general term )in my own opinion, or without an odor a yeast infection. In either case you need to see your doctor and have it properly diagnosed.

On AMHD we do not diagnose because signs and symptoms vary in individuals and we do not know existing medical conditions or prescribed drugs an individual is taking.

Do not have unprotected sex, do not use douches.
