Pay back.. 13 seer v 16 seer I think the pay back for 95% v 80% gas furnace is real... maybe 3 or 4 years... how about the pay back 13 seer v 16 seer for the air... I have a 10 seer now... thank you.. richard

Richard,first you need to compare the price difference between 13 seer and the 16 seer units.say for instants 16 seer costs$2000
And 13 seer costs $1500
Find the costs per KW of electric in your area
Do the math,how long will it take to revamp the extra costs

It probably would be worn out before you made your money back
But to get closer to total you should check and see what state and local tax credits are available for installing 16 seer equipment
