Unknown. At the time of his death he was struggling financially.

It is a sad commentary about his fortunes - which increased after his death. Not sure about his estate being worth billions - but certainly over a million now.

Technically as he is dead he is worthless, but his estate's worth has increased markedly due to posthumous marketing.

Yeah I heard he wasn't going to well either, before his death.
He did however, have the best selling album in history...
