No, God doesn't want that. Can you find it in your heart to thank God for your uncle -- for giving him life and putting him in your family and allowing your uncle to love and be loved by your family members? Your uncle must have been a very special man. Thank God for that!

When God takes a loved one home, it's not punishment ,it's a reward for the one who is in heaven.

Thank God you're uncle is not in pain. You can grieve, that's normal
Because you miss him.

What they are really saying is in thanking god your going to put a positive spin on life. Yes the road in life is paved and there are speed bumps. But as others have already said that as far as your uncle is concerned he is now with his other set of loved ones. God is a mystery and we never really know what's going on until it is revealed to us. So celebrate life as you live it and be grateful for your experiences as even the bad ones can temper you for what's to come like a fine sword.

There are some Christian virtues that we only develop through hardship - like courage, sympathy, perseverance and even open-mindedness. People that deal with hardship positively become more mature while those that avoid it or don't want to think about it always end up feeling like victims. I don't think you should be grateful for your uncle's death at all, but grateful to God that He, through your Christian path, has made it possible for you to go on that first path.

Do you believe that something evil has befallen your uncle? If so, don't give thanks.

However, if you are confident that your uncle is now with Christ, then I don't see why you wouldn't give thanks, unless you are holding some resentment that God has taken a person you love to Himself.

Your Uncle has gained a great gift. Be happy for him and give thanks to God.
