What were the symptoms that you presented to your Doctor. What were you diagnosed with.

With any prescription medication such as the ones you were given, taking them for a short period means you may as well not take them at all. It takes a long time for the medication to adjust in your system, and there is usually blood work done to test the levels after the first so many weeks, as your Doctor probably told you. Or your pharmasist, or the information contained with the pills from your pharmacy, or general information you could look up online.

Another reason to follow the instructions is that you can report to your Doctor, when you have symptoms that are bothering you, so he/she can assess whether to change the doseage, order tests, or try a new medication.

With that being said, it is impossible to assist you, because you have not stated what you have been diagnosed with.

Thank you Nickol, that is very helpful to know.

While it is good that you tried something on your own, and I'm not going to beat you up for taking initiative, self-diagnosing mental illness is not a great idea.

There is much to assess before beginning any medication- and only by a Doctor. Usually a physical is taken, with tests ordered, to determine and rule out any possiblilities that could be causing the symptoms you have. Thyroid, other medicaiton, weight, etc.

Family history is important and although not necessarily a finite kind diagnostic tool, information on your personal history which includes your family, is helpful in gaining a good understanding of possibilities.

Not all medications work for all people, even with the same diagnosis. You may go through more than a few different ones, until one is found that works the best for you. Tests are done, and your Doctor will want to see you during the adjustment part of the medication. That is when you have the opportunity to ask your questions, and report any unusual symptoms, etc.

Remember that buying this stuff online is available for a purpose- only to make money. Be leary of claims made about any (normally) prescribed drug that is usually administered by a physician.

So to start to address your issues, and I know I'm sounding like a school marm here, please make an appointment with your Doctor. It may seem like an impossible task for you to do, and it may seem cumbersome, but please make the effort to do this properly. In so doing, you'll minimize or eliminate any potential problems if you follow the Doctors advice through.

There are a lot of areas in the forum where you can post any questions about pretty much anything, so if you need some help or have questions, just post them, and someone will answer you.

    Good luck.
