Am I within my rights to sue my previous employer for unfair banning of the place of work?
Until recently I have worked part time at a bar within the centre of town. I had also acquired another job with better prospects, better pay, better working environment and overall a better place of which to work in. I therefore decided to hand in my 1 weeks notice on the date of Friday the 8th December for said job, I had been working for this company for nearly 14 months and had always kept a good record of being punctual and friendly to staff and customers, I was surprised to find that on the Sunday after I had given in my notice that the rota for the week commencing I had no shifts to work or carry out my notice of 1 week. Last week on Friday the 15th December I had walked into the bar in the day time and was told by one of the assistant managers that I was not allowed to stay on the premises as I was banned, I was not given an explanation of why I was banned! I was very upset by this and think that I was banned unfairly, I would like to know if I am within my rights to sue the company for unfair banning.
