    1" long in August:

    Wolf Spiders
    Hobo Spiders
    Half a hundred different species of orb weaver spiders
    A couple of dozen funnel web spider species

    Could you be a little more specific?

    I think you'd have to be here a bit longer to attach photos to posts, but you could put it on Facebook or Photobucket and copy/paste a link here.

    Lots of funnel web spinners are native to Carolina. It's a family of spiders in North America unrelated to the Australian spiders. The blanket-like webs in hedges you see first thing in the morning are funnel webs.
