I have intense right abdominal pain. I am 29 weeks pregnant. What could it be
I am 29 weeks pregnant. Tonight I've been having a lot of abdominal pain, but most persistent in the upper right abdominal side. It's been like this since 8 pm and it is not 11:30 pm. It only helps to lay down completely on my side. But I can't exactly lay here forever. What could this be? Is the baby in danger?

    Hello Brittany,

I am pregnant now and have been pregnant twice before. The only abdominal pain I felt was either gas pains or braxton hicks contractions.

I know every woman as well as pregnancy is different.

Do you have a doctor that is on call that you can call now?

I do have an on call doctor, but I didn't want to call seeing as how its almost 12am, I figured maybe I was just over reacting. What are your thoughts,

Never, ever hesitate to call your doctor when you're pregnant.

I can understand that. If it were me, and I have never felt this sort of pain before and it's been going on for a few hours, I would most likely call the Doctor.

Now, don't get me wrong, this may not be anything. However, when it comes to being pregnant, I don't take any chances.

    Is this your first pregnancy?

Yes it is. And I'm not very experienced with the signs and symptoms. I'm not sure what to take seriously and what not too.

Also I wanted to ask you, are you experiencing any other symptoms? Yellow or bloody discharge?

Just lower back pain. But when I am laying down it's not as persistent.

My Doctor has always told me that if I experience any cramping or pain that I should contact him.

I would say that I would call yours if I were you. Even if it's just to put your mind at ease.

Don't worry about how late it is. I can see that being a first timer at this, you are nervous, as I was.

    But Brittany, I would call.

If you do, let me know what he says.

    Good luck.
