    Setting a lab created stone
    Hi there.

I was wondering if I bought the 14k white gold engagement ring if it would be possible to set a CZ stone in it.

    Thanks.

    Hi, Momma!

How large is the stone, please?

    Thanks!

Not sure why that matters, but it's the equivalent of a 1ct diamond.

Can someone help me with this?

    Hi again, Momma!

The size of it matters because of the size of the band as compared to the stone. If the stone were to be too large as compared to the band, then even if it were set in the band, it might be likely to come loose or fall out.

A one carat diamond is probably going to be too large to actually be set in a band, unless the width of the band would allow for room, or if there's already a place made in the band for the accommodation of a stone where that place in the band would just need to be shaped to size for a stone. Holders can be made to accommodate larger stones where the holder then can be affixed to the band, if the band doesn't already have such a place already in it.

In short though, I don't think that you'll have a problem with the stone being attached to the band in some way.

    Thanks!

The stone isn't being set into the band, there will be prongs to set the stone in, and they can accommodate any size stone. The issue is whether a jeweler can set a cubic zirconia stone since its not as strong as a real diamond.

I was wondering if anyone would know how much this would cost. Thanks.
